From time to time we post magazine extras on the blog for you to download and enjoy. Things like templates, sketches or images. These files are normally PDFs or JPEGs.
If you're unsure how to download these files, here's a quick guide:
On a PC
1. The file you want to download will look like a normal link, usually named something like template.pdf or sketch.jpg
2. Right-click your mouse on the link and a little menu pops up
3. Choose 'Save target as...' and then choose where on your computer the files should be saved (the desktop is normally fine)
4. That's it! Then you can open the files and print them out however you like.
What happens when you click on a link
If instead of right-clicking the link you left-click it your browser will try and open it as if it was a normal webpage. JPEGs will normally open fine (and then you can right-click and choose 'Save picture as...' instead) but PDFs sometimes open as a blank page. This is because your browser either can't open PDFs, or because your computer is trying to open it using Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader is some free software that you can download and use to open PDFs. It's very useful!
If you use a Mac...
1. As above, the file you want to download will look like a normal link, usually named something like template.pdf or sketch.jpg
2. Right-click your mouse on the link and a little menu pops up
3. Choose 'Save link as...' and then choose where on your computer the files should be saved (the desktop is normally fine)
4. That's it! Then you can open the files and print them out however you like.
